  • Fears for kids playing on frozen lake
    Parents are being urged to keep tabs on their kids following indications children have been playing on a frozen lake in the area. Local officers discovered footprints and what appeared to be bicycle tracks on and around Round Lake in Fivemiletown. Police say they cannot stress strongly enough the dangers of such activity.
  • Driver skates on thin ice!
    A car has driven over a Frozen Reservoir in Co Tyrone. Northern Ireland Water is appealing to members of the public who've been skating on Lough Fea to stop. NI Water staff along with the PSNI has been on site trying to deter people from the ice. They have erected signage in the area in a bid to warn the public about the dangers of doing so. NI Water says it cannot completely restrict access to the site and is relying on the public to realise that they are putting themselves at serious risk.
  • School bus service cancelled
    Yellow Buses that normally pick up about 500 children from Cookstown High School will not be running this afternoon. This is because of the weather and bad road conditions. The school is closing 15 minutes early at 3.40pm to help students and staff get home in daylight. A spokeswoman said parents will be able to pick up the children at this time.
  • Cardinal Daly laid to rest
    Church and lay leaders have gathered in Armagh for the funeral of Cardinal Cathal Daly. The former all-Ireland Catholic Primate died last week from heart problems at the age of 92. The cardinal was laid to rest in the grounds of Saint Patrick's Cathedral where Requiem Mass was held, with Cardinal Sean Brady as the celebrant.
  • Crowds attend mass for Cardinal
    A large congregation attended mass this morning for Cardinal Cahal Daly at St Patrick's Cathedral in Armagh. The remains of the former head of the Irish Catholic church are currently lying in state in the cathedral where people have been paying respects. The 92-year-old died last Thursday in Belfast City Hospital. Lying in state will continue until 9pm tonight. Cardinal Sean Brady will be the celebrant at Requiem Mass at noon tomorrow.
  • Man in court over chemist robbery bid
    A man in his 30s has appeared at Omagh special Court over an attempted armed robbery. It's after a robbery bid at a chemist at James Street in Cookstown on Thursday. Police say a man armed with a knife barged into the premises and demanded cash.
  • Elderly brothers robbed by masked gang
    Two brothers in their 70s have been treated for shock following an aggravated burglary at their home in Dungannon. Just before 9 o'clock last night, six masked men forced their way into the house in the Glassdrummond Road through a back door. They threatened the men before ransacking the property. Police say cash was stolen.
  • Teens nicked for disorderly behaviour
    And a 17-year-old and 13-year-old boy have been arrested for disorderly behaviour at a shopping centre in Magherafelt on Saturday night. Both were released pending a report to the PPS.
  • Man arrested over drugs possession
    A 19-year-old man was arrested in Magherafelt during the early hours of yesterday morning under suspicion of possessing Class B drugs. He was released pending a report to the PPS.
  • Pensioner for court over drink-driving
    A pensioner arrested in Maghera early this morning is expected to appear in court later this month. The 69-year-old man's charged with driving with excess alcohol, disorderly behaviour and assault on police following his arrest on the Glen Road.
